Incendiary (film)


Incendiary is a 2008 British drama film portraying the aftermath of a terrorist attack at a football match. It is directed by Sharon Maguire and stars Michelle Williams, Ewan McGregor, and Matthew Macfadyen. It is about an adulterous womans life that is torn apart when her husband and fouryearold son are killed in a suicide bombing at Emirates Stadium during an Arsenal F.C. match. It is based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Chris Cleave.

Mainly the book and the film are about this mothers love for her child and the loss of that child. There is also a policeman, who is essentially a good man who wants to do the right thing but cant because hes got an unseen enemy and he has to make decisions that he wouldnt normally make and it gets him into trouble. Then theres a journalist who kind of represents the liberal thinkers in society. All liberal thinkers have had to reassess that attitude since 911 because the results of free association, free movement and free expression have put us all in danger in many ways, so everybodys had to rethink their position. They represent the world before 911 and 77 and then what happened afterwards, so thats what its about.While the young mother has sex with reporter Jasper Ewan McGregor, Lenny, their son and about 1000 others are killed in a terrorist attack carried out by six suicide bombers at a football match. Both Jasper and Lennys boss, Terrence Butcher Matthew Macfadyen, who is in charge of the antiterrorist division, try to comfort the mother both are also romantically interested in her. ........
